Tiffany D. J. Sanders is a passionate advocate for restorative justice, community healing, and social equity. She earned her Masters in Social Work from Howard University in May 2025, her B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Forensics from Governors State University in 2022, and her Associate of Applied Science from Olive-Harvey College in 2020.​​

​Tiffany is the founder of Mending Communities, an initiative focused on healing harm through restorative practices, community education, and support for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals. She also volunteers with the Black Revolutionary Collective, where she facilitates peace circles with women at Cook County Jail.

With experience working with both youth and adults impacted by incarceration, as well as individuals with disabilities, Tiffany brings a trauma-informed and justice-centered approach to her work. Her deep commitment to restorative justice and community empowerment is rooted in a belief in second chances, the power of voice, and the importance of culturally grounded healing practices.

Tiffany D. J. Sanders is the author of Transmitting Hypervigilance Through Intergenerational Trauma: Recommendations for Marriage & Family Therapists and Passing Down Incarceration: Exploring Intergenerational Trauma & Mass Incarceration in Black American Communities.
In Transmitting Hypervigilance Through Intergenerational Trauma, she offers therapists tools to understand how hypervigilant coping patterns are passed through generations and how to disrupt them in clinical practice. Passing Down Incarceration explores how the legacy of mass incarceration shapes trauma across generations in Black American communities and proposes pathways for healing and systemic change.
