Our Work
Mending Communities is committed to repairing harm, restoring relationships, and strengthening the fabric of our communities through restorative practices, education, and connection. Our work spans correctional settings, youth development spaces, higher education, and virtual community gatherings. Each initiative reflects our belief that healing is possible, voices matter, and every individual deserves the opportunity to be seen, heard, and supported.

01
Cook County Peace Circles w/BRC
In partnership with the Black Revolutionary Collective (BRC), we facilitate peace circles for incarcerated adults in Cook County. These circles create space for reflection, accountability, emotional safety, and healing, helping participants develop communication skills, build trust, and strengthen community inside the facility.
02
IYC Peace Circles w/New Life Centers
Through our collaboration with New Life Centers, we lead peace circles for youth in the Illinois Youth Centers. These intentional spaces promote emotional regulation, conflict transformation, and positive identity development, empowering young people to share their stories and practice new ways of relating to themselves and others.

03
Mending Sunday Virtual Peace Circles
Mending Sundays are free virtual peace circles open to the public, offering a welcoming space for reflection, honesty, connection, and grounding at the start of each week. Whether participants join to heal, learn, or simply be in community, these circles provide gentle structure and collective support.
04
Restorative Justice 101 w/Howard University
We provide Restorative Justice 101 as a learning experience for Howard University students, introducing foundational principles, historical context, and practical tools for restorative practice. This course helps emerging professionals build a deeper understanding of accountability, community healing, and restorative frameworks within social work and allied fields.
